How Often Should I Wash My House?

This is a common question many home owners ask us when we are cleaning their property.

"How frequently should I wash my home?"

The real answer, as most things in life, it depends...

Every home and situation is different, and the best answer I usually respond with is, "as often as it requires..."

Here are some of the factors that play into how often you should think about washing your home:

1. How much sun exposure does your house receive? (usually the North side has most of the moss due to lack of direct sun)

2. How damp is the area around your home? Do you receive a lot of rain, do you live hear a lake or pond that holds moisture for longer periods of time?

3. What type of siding do you have? Vinyl, Aluminum, Cedar (or less maintenance heavy, brick)

4. What type of foliage do you have around your home? Do you have a lot of shade, or a lot of tree debris or pollen build up?

These are four common factors I consider when answering the question - how often should I wash my house?

The prevalence of each of these factors combine to different cleaning frequencies.

However, in most cases, I do end up sharing that most of my customers clean their home every 3 to 5 years depending on their situation. We have some customers who need a clean every year, and some customers who clean every 5 years. But for most cases here in Northeast Ohio, 3 to 5 years is a good guide.
